Thinking about Becky...

Today I've been thinking about Becky Taylor Henning. Becky is Uncle Tap's youngest daughter and on Monday she is having her first, and last, birth. Becky, at age 34, decided to have one biological child, for her husband, Doug, who is adopted. I keep thinking that tying her tubes is a mistake after only one birth, but Becky says they'll adopt if they want another.

I remember the youngster Becky, visiting her Gram Taylor, here in CA, when she was only 4 years old, the first time. We have many fond memories of Becky, and her sister Tracy's, visits! And best of all, Becky remembers staying and visiting with us, too!

It is exciting to know that she is now to become a mom and perhaps we will establish a tradition of sorts, with her daughter. We have several (meaning 3) young granddaughters living rather close by and a new baby grandson coming in August.

We aren't the young folks we were when Becky was a child, but the heart stays young enough and the mind remembers good times with joy. We are excited and happy to have a new baby in the family and one that will grow up with Chris & Andrea's "son in the making!"

I miss our VA grandchildren's visits each summer and want to have them back!!! Those days can never be duplicated and once grandkids are grown those moments are gone forever...

And what if that child's mortal sojourn is cut short? We just had lady from a neighboring stake lose their 4 month old. The baby was healthy and happy as could be, and then got sick. The autopsy isn't complete so unknown at this point what actually happened. But I'd certainly be remiss in missing out on the opportunity to raise my own.

Maybe the baby will bring her so much joy that she'll have 2nd thoughts...

I know the kids miss going to Grammy and Poppy's in CA too. They always have stories to tell (mostly about Poppy), I love to hear them. Poppy and his bird whistling, opera singing, etc. And his celebration dance when the kids are heading for the airport to go home, lol! Good times :)

You are supposed to feel guilty and terrible that you don't send them anymore! If it were in my power to send tickets believe me I would. (26x300=$$$) I guess we are all in the same spot!! I'm sure glad Dad pays for purchases with his credit cards so we can save points for a free ticket to come your way!! It helps a whole lot to only pay for 1-2... I'd so love to have the girls this year. I don't play the lottery so no hopes of winning there... Hugs for all those Cherry Blossoms, Greg! love you. xo Mom

I had an (accumulated) free ticket on Alaska airline so guess where I'm going... to OR, of course...

Things are pretty tight for us until October. The furniture we bought was done interest free if we get it paid off in a year. The interest is super high if we don't so we are very motivated to get that paid off. That means tightening the belt a bit.

We did get a break with Christopher coming off braces, but we have new expenses with Tory and college coming and Aleks may be next for braces :)

In October, I may need to start thinking about a new (used) car. The Volvo is slowly falling apart. The gas cap lid came off, I've super glued two external lights in place because seals and clips are breaking and they were dangling by their wires.

While these things don't impact the driveability of the car, they will cause the car to fail inspection (June) and I won't be able to register it (VA is very strict). A few times the blinker has been stuck on, other drivers love that when they think you're turning and you're not. A simple unplug and plug of the fuse seems to resolve that.

Probably time to get another Honda or Toyota. Parts for a Volvo are insanely expensive and these little nickle-dime things are more like $100's of dollars.

So, not in a great position to do anything this year. Maybe next year. It would also be nice to not have to be concerned with sharing/splitting time with the Cildermans. Maybe next summer we can swing it, if you guys are still up to it.

Let's work on that at least. Next summer dad may not be working... but then again he better be!!

Courtney, Landon's new wife is going to stay with us beginning next weekend for a week or so.

Landon has to go to sea and she knows no one in SB, yet. It's a long and lonely stay in a small apartment with no company . . . whatsoever.

Get your furniture paid off before it all falls apart!! Tee hee! You do know dad has the tickets for November already, right? If not let me know and I'll send the info to you!!

Wow, I hope Courtney is happy none the less. What she needs is a baby to keep her busy :) I had been thinking about them with all the news of the fires a few weeks back.

I did get Dad's email about the November plans, yeah! I wonder what the Cildermans will do for Thanksgiving.

I think the Ensigns are coming up to be with the Johnstons because Megan's husband will be here doing an internship in DC for a semester. I think under normal circumstances it would be the Johnstons turn to go south but with Megan here... Of course, Aaron's parents live in GA too so it really makes more sense for them to head south. But I'm pretty sure Cath told me the Ensigns were heading up. Maybe the Youngs (Aaron's family and also our good friends) will come up too :)
