My last post went over like a lead balloon...

Soooo... let's try CHARACTER, okay?

Now having strong, courageous, impeccable character is some thing we'd all pretty much desire to have. It's also something no one is going to "brag" about, that's for sure!

So I'm going to talking about a real character we can discuss freely... like the guy in church that blurts out the funniest (but most inappropriate) things during testimony meeting.

Now HE is a real CHARACTER!

And while I hate to mention this following that (ummm) characterization, I think the Baker brothers can be major characters in their own rights.

Since Webb doesn't blog, let's move right on to Greg. Greg has a style of writing - and in real time he has a way of thinking and speaking - that is so unique, I would designate him as one funny character. Even when he's SERIOUS he "sometimes" makes me laugh.

(Right, Gregory?)

AND... that goatee ~ shall I say more?!!

Can you think of others for whom living their lives their own way might make them be considered a character in their own right?

I honestly think having character (you do, Greg) and being a character are often one and the same thing! Three cheers for you!!

Now anyone else out there you'd like to nominate, do you suppose?

Wow! Where did this come from???

And what's the dealio with the Goatee? I'm tired of having stupid bozo hair wings on the sides of my head. I'm not crazy about having stubble on my head either as everything sticks to it like velcro (i.e my pillow, seat head rests, hats, etc.) The facial hair drives me bananas, I hate the way it feels. But I prefer the shiny baldy head to the stupid wings yet without the facial hair I look like a big flesh head. So, for me the facial hair breaks up some of the flesh and looks better. Plus, the guys I play racquetball with say it makes me look tough, like I'm going to kick some butt... Gives me an advantage, you know? Sometimes when I see pictures of myself with the goatee, I see Uncle Steve all over again...

Soooo, I think it's funny that I make you laugh even when you're observing me just being me. And there is nobody more inappropriate in sacrament meeting than me! Well, not true, but I can be inappropriate with the best of them.

I was going to ask you why you posted your last blog. Surely something you read about your ancestors made you think about how you wanted to be remembered so I was wondering what your thoughts were. How do you want to be remembered? Your blog should be more about you I think. Certainly you can ask people to comment, that's the beauty of a blog.

I felt like there was too much for you to type to get your point across so you but some nebulous stuff about character out there and then you kind of expected us to read your mind as to line of thinking. I'm still not sure I know where you're going with this.

I agree about Webb, I think he's one of the funniest people I know. He's got character. All of the Taylor boys are hilarious. I think Theresa has some incredible wit and a great sense of humor. I love reading her writing. What makes is most interesting is that I know the people in her life and she's spot on when describing the day to day stuff, which in any right is total comedy at it's best.

What is "character"? Moral character or character is an evaluation of a person's moral and mental qualities. Such an evaluation is subjective — one person may evaluate someone's character on the basis of their virtue, another may consider their fortitude, courage, loyalty, honesty, or piety.

I like Hyrum W. Smith's (one of the Franklin Planner founders) definition of character: the ability to carry out a worthy decision after the emotion of making that decision has passed.

What comes to your mind Grammy when you think of the word "character" (other than inappropriate testimonies LOL)?

Wow, you really caught me with that one, "happy the man!"

I had no thoughts other than trying to get a rise out of anyone and at least you took the bait!!!

First of all you don't look like YOU with the goatee, but, OKAY, you have a convincing reason to wear it, I guess.

My hair dresser once said let's get rid of those wings - but she hasn't!! Must be in the family gene pool somewhere...

I do NOT like the silver threads among the gold, either. I have developed alien's hair and don't know what to do with it... I think perhaps my mother wished it on me as some sort of revenge.

I would love to be remembered as a person who truly loved people in general and my family specifically!!

Since as we age we start to see ourselves as we really are - I think I'll stop there.

A person with character is true to themselves - as well as to others.

I suffer the sins of being judgmental, though perhaps not in the tradional ways.

I do not have a sense of humor, but find it hilarious when others are caught embarassing themselves in rediculous ways.

I love Stephen King - there's that gruesome side of me, too.

Toss in that DIET Coke and you can see me very clearly ~

Did I say spiritual? That is something I'll be working on for the rest of my life.

Yeah, I know who you are... I don't think you've changed much (I don't mean that in a bad way). Your the same sweet "busy body" lady that I've known my whole life... And oh how I love you!

I like how you defined character. Kind of like, character is doing what you said you were going to do, for all the right reasons, right?
